    SCHOOL RESTART INFORMATION.

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you and your families well.

At present we are making arrangements for your children’s safe return to school.

We are awaiting further direction from Minister Weir, who, at present, has proposed revised plans which are currently with the NI Executive for approval.

At this moment in time, in line with the current guidance, our intention is that children will return on a split week, with one group attending Mondays and Tuesdays and a second group attending Thursdays and Fridays, with remote learning taking place on the other three days.

(We are planning that children in the same family will attend school on the same days).

We will advise of you of which group your child will be in as soon as possible.

    Nursery and Primary One.

A slightly different arrangement is planned for Nursery and Primary One children.

The Induction Meetings for Nursery and Primary One children will take place in St. Matthew’s Primary School on:

NURSERY INDUCTION MEETING: THURSDAY 20thAugust 2020 at 2.00pm and

PRIMARY ONE INDUCTION MEETING: FRIDAY 21stAugust 2020 at 2.00pm

Mrs Donnelly, Head of Nursery and Foundation Stage will be emailing further details to you directly next week.

Please bear in mind that these arrangements are subject to change, particularly in the light of Mr Weir’s new proposal (of which we are unclear of all the details).

We are currently writing a “RESTART BOOKLET” for parents, which is very detailed and will provide you with essential restart information.  This will be made available towards the end of next week.

In the meantime, for our new Nursery and Primary One children, the SCHOOL PROSPECTUS is available online, on our school website: www.stmatthewsprimaryschool.org.uk

This will provide you with some general information about both the Primary School and the Nursery.

In addition, TRULY FARE, Ormeau Road, is our official stockist of the uniforms for St. Matthew’s Primary School and Nursery.

Paula, in the Truly Fare shop, would be happy to assist you with any queries regarding your child’s uniform.

I shall be in contact with you again with more detailed arrangements towards the end of next week.

The staff of St. Matthew’s Primary School and Nursery look forward to your children’s safe return to school and to the days when our classrooms and corridors are full of life and fun once again.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Miss A. Browne.

    PRINCIPAL.

St. Matthew’s Primary School and Nursery, Belfast.

  • Miss Browne Easter Letter

    Thu 09 Apr 2020
    9th April 2020.

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families a very happy Easter. I would like to welcome back our Vice-Principal, Mrs O'Neill, and wish her continued good health. Thanks to Miss Young who taught Mrs O'Neill's P3 class, when she was off. Thanks to Mrs Donnelly and Mr Treanor for their invaluable help as part of our School Management Team.

Our school has been very quiet and it is strange not to hear your children's happy voices! Normally, during Lent, all our staff and pupils take part in lots of fundraising activities for Trócaire. You, our parents, guardians and wider family circle, are always outstanding in your generosity.

I would like to thank all the staff who prepared home learning packs and also the online resources on the Class Pages on our school website.

Thanks to you, our parents and guardians, for all your tremendous efforts to help and support your children with their learning at home.
I commend you for all your commitment, efforts and hard work. Please do not be too hard on yourselves! You are doing your very best for your children in the midst of this crisis.

The staff very much appreciate the challenges your children are facing and how hard it is for them to cope with this new way of learning and also the fact that they are missing seeing their friends, teachers, classroom assistants and all our school staff.

Please continue to pray for our School Chaplain, Father Peter Carlin and all of priests and religious, as they continue to minister to us under these difficult and challenging circumstances.

I hope that you and your families are managing as best as you can. Should you require any help, you can continue to contact me through our school email: info@stmatthewsps.belfast.ni.sch.uk

On behalf of all our staff, may I wish you, your children and all your families a very happy, peaceful and holy Easter.
Keep watching the various church webcams and accessing the free Grow in Love materials from Veritas:

Please take some time to relax with your families over the Easter holidays. We will be in touch with you again after Easter to provide more home learning packs for your children.

Be assured of my ongoing prayers.

Stay safe and well. God bless.

    Miss Aileen Browne.
    Principal.
