Have you heard of Alexander Graham Bell? We'll be learning more about him this term but first, he inspired our investigation work this week. In class, we made string telephones and explored how vibrations help sound (like our voices) travel! It was super fun!
We have been doing lots more investigating about sound. We tested objects that stop sound from travelling as well as objects that make sound travel further/ sound louder. Ear defenders proved to be the best thing to block sound from travelling!
We have used our sense of hearing to help us become quiz masters and guess what is making the different sounds. We were them able to explore different sounds musical instruments make by trying some out ourselves! It was a very noisey classroom this afternoon...
We have started exploring sound in our new WAU topic. On Wednesday afternoon, we went on a tour around the school with our clipboards to discover which areas are quiet and which are loud. We were able to compare the noisiest and quietest areas and discuss why they are like that. The playground was super loud when the older children were out for their lunch time play!
